This delicious and wholesome meal combines the goodness of Italian sausage with a medley of colorful vegetables, creating a comforting and satisfying dish that the whole family can enjoy. The recipe starts by browning the sausage, which adds a rich and savory flavor to the dish. Then, a variety of vegetables cooked until tender, adding a delightful crunch and a boost of nutrients. The cooked pasta is combined with the sausage and vegetables, and everything is coated in a tomato pasta sauce. Finally, the dish is topped with a generous amount of cheese and baked until golden and bubbly. The result is a mouthwatering pasta bake that brings together the flavors of hearty sausage, vibrant vegetables, and cheesy goodness in every bite, making it a crowd-pleasing favorite.
Packed with protein from the sausage and an array of vitamins and minerals from the vegetables, this dish offers a balanced combination of flavors and nutrients. It also provides a great opportunity to sneak in extra vegetables for those picky eaters. 5 Ingredient sausage and vegetable pasta bake
For this 5 ingredient sausage and vegetable pasta bake you will need:
Woolworths Wagyu Beef and Cracked Black Pepper or Angus Beef and Caramelised Onion Sausages
Woolworths Essential Pasta Sauce
Australian Mozzarella shredded cheese
(you can also include onion if you want but my kids don’t like it)
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.
Cook the pasta in boiling water on the stove until soft.
Add frozen vegetables to boiling pasta about 5 minutes before the pasta is ready.
Cut the tips off the sausage and squeeze the assuage sausage from the lining into a fry pan with some oil. (you can also chop the sausages if you prefer but removing the casing makes them a bit like meatballs).
Fry the sausages until brown then add pasta sauce. Feel free to add garlic, Italian herbs, chilli, or whatever your family prefers flavour-wise.
Cook until sausages are cooked through.
Drain pasta and veggies and pour into a baking dish. (I’m fond of my old Pyrex, but any deep dish will do).
Add sausage and sauce mixture on top and stir through until combined.
Spread mozzarella cheese over the top and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown.
Serve with a side salad or whatever takes your fancy!
Substitutions
What I like about this dinner is that its really easy to sub out things that kids don't like. If your kids only eat certain veggies then feel free just to add those. You could also use meat balls if you don't have any sausages, or even just mince! And if you prefer a spiral pasta then feel free to use that instead.
What’s your quick and easy, go-to dinner?
