    Air fryer Cinnamon Scrolls recipe

Cinnamon scrolls, also known as cinnamon rolls or cinnamon buns, are a sweet and delicious pastry that has been enjoyed for centuries. These tasty treats are typically made from a sweet dough that is filled with cinnamon, sugar, and butter, then rolled into a spiral shape and baked until golden brown.

One of the most distinctive features of cinnamon scrolls is their signature swirl pattern. The dough is first rolled out into a large rectangle, and then the cinnamon-sugar mixture is spread evenly over the surface. The dough is then rolled up tightly, creating a spiral of cinnamon and sugar throughout the pastry. When the rolls are sliced, this spiral is revealed, creating a beautiful and mouth-watering appearance.

Cinnamon scrolls are a popular treat in many parts of the world, particularly in North America and Europe. They are often enjoyed for breakfast, as a mid-day snack, or as a dessert. Many people also associate cinnamon scrolls with the holiday season, as their warm and comforting aroma is perfect for chilly winter mornings.

I'm a big fan of quick lunchbox snacks that don't use too many ingredients. We love Mars Bar slice because it basically only has 4 ingredients and it only takes 10 minutes or so to make. The other lunch box treat I make a lot is chocolate chip oat slice. It's like a muesli bar, but better!

    Ingredients

All the ingredients needed for air fryer cinnamon scrolls can usually be found in your fridge and pantry.

    Plain Flour

    Castor Sugar

    Baking Powder

    Baking Soda

    Thickened Cream

    Brown Sugar

    Butter

    Cinnamon

    Instructions

Here are easy directions to help you make the perfect air fryer cinnamon scrolls. I've put steps below, in case you have never made them, and the full instructions are on the recipe card below that for you.

    Step 1

Combine all the dry ingredients and then add the cream. Stir to combine but don't over stir.

    Step 2

Tip out dough onto a silicon mat or baking paper (but a mat is best) and kneed gently until combined. If it's still a little dry and crumbly double check you have scraped ALL the cream from the tub. You'll need all of it.

    Step 3

Roll out the dough into a rough rectangle. Don't worry too much about making it perfect. I can't get a perfect rectangle for the life of me.

    Step 4

Spread the melted butter on the rolled out dough using a pastry brush and sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar on to it.

    Step 5

Roll the dough lengthways into a roll. Trim the edges and then slice into 3cm pieces.

    Step 6

Place them in a cake tin that fits into your air fryer. If you don't have an air fryer, preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius and place your scrolls on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

Brush the tops with the rest of the melted butter.

    Step 7

Cook in the air fryer for 15 minutes on 160 or in the oven for 20 - 25 minutes on 180.

    Step 8

Once cooled, drizzle with the icing and store in airtight container.

Top tip - reheat in your air fryer for a minute or two before you eat them!

    Variations

While the classic version of cinnamon scrolls is delicious, there are many variations that can be found around the world. Some recipes add raisins, nuts, or even chocolate to the filling (you could even add Nutella!), while others incorporate different spices like cardamom or nutmeg. In some countries, cinnamon scrolls are served with a glaze or icing on top, while in others they are eaten plain.

Overall, cinnamon scrolls are a beloved pastry that have stood the test of time. Their sweet, cinnamon-infused flavour and beautiful appearance make them a perfect treat for any occasion. Whether enjoyed on their own or paired with a cup of coffee or tea, cinnamon scrolls are sure to delight and satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth.
