As mums, we have a million things going on. The mental load is a real thing and many of us feel weighed down by it. It can be hard to carve out any time at all to focus on ourselves, our mental and our physical health. It’s hard to find the time for the most basic things and quite often exercise is one of the things we let go. So how can we incorporate it into our everyday lives when we have so much on?
Exercise is vital to keep our bodies and our minds fit and healthy. Exercise releases endorphins that do wonders for our mental health.
So, what are some ways you can work exercise into your busy day? Here are some of our favourite ways…

Scootering
Buy an adult scooter and get yourself moving with the kids! Family scooter days are a great way to get your body moving and entertain the kids at the same time. You’ll wear out the kids and be getting that cardio going.
Swimming
Actual swimming when you have kids in the water can be hard. You do a lot of helping them and monitoring the water but not a lot of swimming. If you have very young kids, then find a friend you can swim with and take turns watching the kids and swimming. If your kids are bigger and can swim independently, then set some family swimming competitions! Races and challenges are a great way to get some swimming in for the whole family.
Team sports
You most probably take your kids to some sort of team sport, but you may not know that a lot of these clubs offer adult recreation teams as well. You don’t need to be an athlete or even have much knowledge of the game; these teams are usually just for fun and it helps give you a break from the kids and it’s a great way to miss the dinner/ bath/ bed routine 😉
Early morning exercise
Are you a morning person? (I’ve heard they exist!) If you are then this can be a great time to carve out a little ‘me time’ for exercise. Find yourself an easy program to get you motivated to move, or just jump on YouTube for some inspiration before the kids even get up!
Jump on the trampoline
Do you have a trampoline? Most of us do! Well, that trampoline is the perfect way to get in a good workout (and get in touch with that inner kid!) Now is the perfect time to start practicing those flips and see if you can still master the combos you used to practice for hours as a kid. Trampolines are a great way to get in some cardio and they are still so much fun to bounce on.
Any one of these ideas will help get you moving. Do you have a particular way you like to get some exercise in? Share it with us if you do!
