Vivid is one of our favourite times of the year in Sydney. It makes the city absolutely magical. Now Vivid has expanded to Luna Park, so we headed down to check it out.
We headed down with Tully and her BFF on a Saturday night. They are at peak Luna Park age, everything is exciting, especially when we are out at night. The famous face was all lit up, and the teeth were changing colour all night.
We arrived about 5pm, which worked really well. We had some dinner and a few rides and then the lights came on! If you are visiting with kids it's definitely good to go earlier. When we arrived there was hardly anyone there, by the time we left at 8:30pm it was getting packed and the lines for the rides were getting long.
The girls couldn't get enough of the ferris wheel lights set to music. We watched it several times while they danced.
While you are there you must go up in the ferris wheel and check out the lights. Sadly we were too early for the Vivid lights across the water but the view down to Coney Island was spectacular.
Coney Island (and the light up fairy floss) was also a massive hit. For Vivid, there is a giant projection on the front of Coney Island, like they do at Custom House and at the Zoo. We watched it twice and then headed to Tully's favourite part, inside Coney Island. They had so much fun on all the old style activities we couldn't get them to leave!
On our way out we watched the roving street performers and jumped on the dodge'm cars and the mighty mouse (or meek mouse for the kids). It really was such a fun night and definitely worth a visit. You can see the Vivid lights across the harbour as well which adds extra magic.
Vivid at Luna Park is open 24 May - 15 June from 6pm - 10pm (11pm on Friday and Saturday night). Entry is free. Ride passes are from $10.
