I'm a total Dyson lover. If there was a cult, I would be in it! We have two Dyson vacuums and fan and I love them all, so I was excited to review the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Air Purifier. I was especially keen to try it out because both my daughter and I have eczema, plus I have asthma. Winter is always the worst time of year for us because the air is dry and the temp is cold. Also, where we live has a lot of backburning in winter.

What is the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Air Purifier?
The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Air Purifier is a hot and cold fan that also purifies the air. It contains a 360-degree glass HEPA filter and projects up to 200 litres of purified, heated air per second around the room.
It can be managed using an app, or with its remote control and it a sleek, lightweight unit that is designed to be moved around your home as needed.
Why do I need one?
The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Air Purifier has been designed specifically to filter the air in people's homes. You may live somewhere with high pollution levels that affect the air quality in your home, or you may suffer from allergies, asthma or eczema. The Dyson Purifier’s filter automatically captures gases and 99.95% of fine particles such as allergens and pollutants. This means that your house will be free of a lot of the things that irritate you.
It can also be used in the kitchen to help reduce odours and cooking smells which is handy.
Does it work?
I have to say, I was skeptical that one little unit could really have that much effect on a whole house (sorry Mr Dyson, I'll never doubt you again!). We have an open plan lounge/dining/kitchen and that's where it spends a lot of its time. My desk (read couch) is right near it so I have it on most of the day and it's pretty quiet. It's purifying but it's also keeping me warm or cool. I'm especially loving the heater function right now because it's not as overwhelming as my big gas heater, which makes the room so hot I need to take a nap on my couch/desk.
But as well as the warming element, it is actually cleaning the air. We have had a whole lot of backburning here lately and the air quality has been awful. You can't even open the doors or windows without being hit in the face with smoke. So I've been running it non stop. You can see in the pics below how quickly it improves the air. The first one was taken when I first switched it on in the morning after school drop off and the second was just 1.5 hours later. It makes a difference that fast!
How does the app work?
You download the app and then sync it to your own machine, using it's wifi signal and code. Your machine then monitors the air quality inside the home, while the app checks what's going on outside. They combine together to give you a snapshot of the air quality around you. You can also move the unit around, changing its location to places like bedroom, kids bedroom, kitchen and so on so that it knows where it is.
Should I get one?
The unit is quite pricey, with an RRP of $799, however, if you were already looking at Dyson fans and love the bladeless look and safety feature, plus you are wanting to filter the air in your home then it's definitely worth the purchase. If you have children with breathing issues and allergies this could well be something that helps them sleep better and breathe better. If you live in an older house, with carpet and heavy curtains, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Air Purifier could be the perfect solution for you to help clean the air around you.

Hi there, I love the look of the Dyson heater/coolers, so much sleeker than actual rotation fans and much much easier to keep clean. Adding in the air purifying element is a great idea as you just need the one unit not two. We don't have alergy issues here but we do have cooling smells and like you get smoky when back burning and fires are on. Off to check this out... and the new vacuums which I have heard about.
