    Eating in with dish'd

Published: Dec 17, 2014 · Modified: Aug 24, 2015 by Maraya · This post may contain affiliate links · 2 Comments

    dishd

I can't cook (ok that's a lie- I can if I have to but I HATE it) so when my husband, the house cook, and my son headed off to Tasmania for five days my teenage daughter was a little concerned about the food situation. Was I going to make her cook??? What were we going to eat? Well luckily I had a little surprise up my sleeve...

This post is brought to you by Nuffnang and dish'd but is my own opinion

dish'd is a new & exciting way to experience delicious food from around the world in the comfort of your own home. Basically you jump online and go through their menu (so much choice it's hard to know where to start) and then it's delivered to your door the next day (or you can choose the date for your delivery).

Knowing that we were going to be without a quality chef in the house I preplanned and ordered from dish'd- arranging it's arrival for the day they left! (I know- super great organisation by me lol!)

I ordered a range of meals and desserts (ok, ok, maybe a few too many desserts but they just looked so good!)- for the teen I ordered 2x the five cheese pizza and for me I ordered the moussaka and the chimmi churri rice. We also threw in some lemon tarts, profiteroles, a gelato and an apple tart for good measure- so lets review...

    Five Cheese Pizza

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

One word- Amazeballs! This was seriously some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. It looked just like the box and it tasted delicious. It wasn't really oily and the five cheeses gave it a bit of bite and a lot of flavour. 5 stars!

    Chimmi Churri Rice

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

I'm pretty sure that this is designed to be a side dish but I've adopted it into my life as a main. One bag costs around $5 and it gave me three meal sized serves (small meals, not man sized), and it takes 5 minutes to fry up. It's quite spicy, but not too spicy, and really. really good. I now want it in my freezer all the time because it was a great quick lunch that I could make while the toddler was annoying me. 5 Stars!

    Moussaka

Processed with VSCOcam with c3 preset

This was the one thing that let me down- it just didn't have enough flavour. It really needs some of those 5 cheeses that are on the pizza- more cheese would make this a winner but at the moment it's just a bit bland. 2 stars

    Lemon Tarts

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

I'm a sucker for a lemon dessert and these didn't disappoint. They had a nice lemon flavour- not too sour- and great pastry. Some frozen pastry gets a bit soggy but this was perfect. 4.5 stars (only because I wanted them to be bigger lol!)

    Profiteroles

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Profiteroles are one of my favourite desserts, when they are done right. There are a lot of bad ones out there though. The dish'd profiteroles were really good though- they have cream in them rather than custard (in case you have a strong preference for one or the other) and this makes them quite light. They come with chocolate sauce that you pour on top before you serve and the pastry is spot on- they burst in your mouth rather than being chewy like a lot of them. Perfection! 5 stars!

    Overall Verdict

I've always been wary of frozen food- I don't buy it from the supermarket and the ones I've tried have always been bland, soggy and quite frankly, pretty gross. So I was interested to try dish'd because I had heard good things about it, and I wasn't disappointed- it was seriously good! I'm now going to be ordering back up meals from them on a regular basis- they are perfect to have in the freezer when you can't be bothered to cook (or if hubby goes away again lol!)

I've also recommended it to my sister who returns to work full time next year after maternity leave. Her husband is staying at home but she totally doesn't trust his cooking!

So if you are looking for a good, healthy alternative too cooking every night, dish’d has a range of high quality meals and desserts, all frozen to retain their nutritional and taste credentials, waiting to be enjoyed… when you are. Visit dished.com.au to get your order started...

I'd order anything that looks delicious,
with hearty ingredients that are nutritious,
and most importantly requires absolutely NO DISHES.
These are my dish’d menu wishes!

The vegetable and mushroom cones look delicious, and much healthier than what I usually enjoy in a cone… to make up for that, I’d add on the Chocolate Prague cake for dessert 😉 Yum!
