We have all been touched by breast or gynaecological cancer in some way. Whether its through a family member or through a friend, cancer is inescapable. That's why I'm proud to support Pink Ribbon Day by making my own #pinkribbonpromise.

Today I #pinkribbonpromise to teach my twin daughters what my mum taught me… To always look after myself, value and make time for myself. Most importantly to never be afraid to ask for help.

My promise is about ensuring that as we grow as women, sisters, daughters, mothers, friends, we look after ourselves and our well being.

When I had the twins my mum stayed with me for 5 months and helped me through a really hard time.

She sat down with me often and made me take time out. She questioned my health and mind when I was ignoring things and taught me how to take time out in the chaos.  My mum showed me that being a mother is forever but do my job right I need to put myself first.  I want to make sure my daughters grow up believing this from an early age.

Your promise can be any kind of pledge you want to make to someone close to your heart.. it can be your friend, sister, mother ... to let them know you love them and you will stand by them always. The Pink Ribbon Promise can be whatever you want it to be; “I promise to tell you if I think you’re working too hard”, “I promise to be by your side through thick and thin”, “I promise to remind you to have your breasts checked”, it’s about best friends and family coming together to support one another no matter what and all uniting to beat women’s cancers!

If you would like to commit to supporting Pink Ribbon Day in other ways how about getting the girls together for a night without the kids and hosting a Girl's Night In or Pink Ribbon Fundraiser?

Pink Ribbon merchandise will be on sale from 26th October- together we can help The Cancer Council raise their target of $9.47m to fund vital research, support and prevention programs for the thousands of women affected by cancer, and their families.
