Magic Castle Hotel Hollywood - Review

Published: Jan 15, 2024 · Modified: Jan 15, 2024 by Maraya · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

I’ve been wanting to stay at the Magic Castle Hotel in Hollywood since I heard about it around seven years ago. Guys, if you haven’t stayed here or heard about it then you MUST stay if you’re travelling with kids. I’m going to be upfront and say that it’s not flashy. Some may even say it’s a little tired and run down. But it’s a family paradise!

Why did we love the Magic Castle Hotel so much?

What makes it so special? The service and the fact that everything (except alcohol) is on the house once you’re here. That includes: continental breakfast every day by the pool (heated to 31 degrees year round) and literally all the snacks you can eat. They have a full menu at reception, just ask for whatever you want, This includes full size chocolate bars. they have a free soda machine and a free soft serve machine, they have a popsicle phone line at the pool.

When you ring for popsicles they bring them out on a fancy tray while wearing white gloves. Guys it’s amazing lol. And, MOST IMPORTANTLY (for me) they will wash all your laundry, for free!

The staff are so lovely, I don't think I've had better service anywhere. Down to one of the girls bringing Tully an art box because she mentioned in reception that she likes to draw. One night we were heading to the ice hockey and they had packed us a whole bag of snacks to take! Nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely love kids, which makes it the most relaxing place to stay with them.

    The Location

The Magic Castle Hotel is right in the heart of Hollywood. It's located right next door to the famous Magic Castle, an invitation only, exclusive magic club. At one stage it was run by Neil Patrick Harris. If you book direct with the Magic Castle Hotel you can have the opportunity to visit the club. But be aware that it's a suit and tie/ semi formal (sometimes formal) dress code so if you plan to visit you'll need to pack appropriate clothing.

We rented a car and they provided free parking in a secure, under cover car park.

    The Rooms

The Magic Castle Hotel was originally apartments (just like the ones Daniel lived in in the Karate Kid!) so now they are, studio, one bedroom or two bedroom apartments. The one and two bedroom apartments come with a kitchen and the studio has a mini fridge. We booked 2x 2 bedroom apartments and they are huge! They worked out to be a bit under $600 a night and we had five people in each apartment.

I want to be really clear that the rooms aren't fancy. They are a bit scuffed up and a bit tired and there isn't all fancy matching furniture. The beds are so comfy though. It's an older style building and the accommodation is firmly 3 star. However, this means you aren't stressed about the kids messing stuff up and the apartments are really big so you aren't all crammed into one room.

The hotel might be 3 star, but the service is 5 star the whole way. We can't wait to go back.

Head to magiccastle.com to book - and if there aren't your dates available drop Darren an email and I'm sure he will see if he can accommodate you. Tell him Stuff Mums Like sent you! (no, I get no commission - I just love it!)
