Waging a war against nits with Euky Bear Blitz Nitz

Published: Apr 28, 2016 · Modified: Apr 28, 2016 by Maraya · This post may contain affiliate links · 1 Comment

    Fighting Nits

This post is sponsored by Blitz Nitz

NITS! The word alone is enough to make you start scratching your head like a crazy person. They are the bane of every parent’s existence and come part and parcel with kids.

Nits come home regularly from school and daycare, travelling on a highway of pigtails, school hats and dirty little heads all pushed together in the playground. It doesn’t matter how clean your child is or how often you wash and brush their hair- some kids are just little nit magnets. Like my children!

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve done the wash, rinse, and repeat cycle on those little beasts (the nits not the kids I swear!). I’ve combed and combed and combed, but still they return! So when I was asked to trial the Euky Bear Blitz Nitz solution I said YES!

They tell me it’s clinically proven to kill lice and eggs in 5 minutes. Really? Even my supersonic nits that seem to have the survival powers of a cockroach?

    Let’s give it a shot then…

    First Treatment

It’s made of natural essential oils, which means no chemicals- I like that, I’ve gassed myself often! The essential oils do have a strong smell though, even after washing. My 15-year-old wasn’t happy about that part.

It’s very easy to apply and you can put in on wet or dry hair. However, you cannot use the nit comb with this product in the hair as it isn’t smoothing or slippery. The product doesn’t tell me I need to use a nit comb but I do use it. For my 15-year-old, we treat, rinse and then comb through with conditioner.

    nits

For my three-year-old it’s impossible to comb so I just treat and cross my fingers that it works.

My 17-year-old is on top of the situation and combed his hair pre-treatment so I just treat him.

With all three I treat with the Blitz Nitz and then wash off. It seems easy to remove on the three-year-old (obviously the other two was their own hair!)

    Second Treatment

Well so far so good, the scratching is less but I did see a full-grown nit taking a leisurely stroll on the three-year old’s hairline so he must have been immune. The pack says treat again after a week so I do. They all complain as always! The three-year-old yells, “I don’t like these bugs anymore!” Yep kid- me neither.

On the upside, she’s a big fan of the shower cap!

    Result

I’m up to doing the third treatment now and hopefully they are gone! I’ve done some head inspections and so far (apart from that one rogue nit) I’ve seen no lice and I can’t see any eggs either. Fingers crossed we’ve seen the back of these pests.

Verdict of the Euky Bear Blitz Nitz? It’s really easy to use and I don’t worry about it being on my hands and on their heads because it’s made from natural ingredients. Hopefully, we are on to a winner long term- but only time will tell!

    Wish me luck!
