HIZERO review
The Set Up
The HIZERO was easy to set up. It came almost all put together in the box. I just had to add the foam roller that does the mopping, and connect the handle. TIP: you'll need a small flat head screwdriver for connecting the handle. The foam roler comes wet, you just need to give it a rinse before you install it. Also, the water tanks will have water droplets in them, that's because it's been quality tested, not because it has been used.
The HIZERO came with a small bottle of floor cleaner and extra filters as well. There are some good YouTube videos as well if you want some visual help setting it up and using it. I found them really helpful.
HIZERO FAQS
Before I talk about using the HIZERO I just want to answer some common questions that I've been asked, and that I had myself.
Can you use the HIZERO on carpet?
No, it's for hard, sealed floors only. Because it mops as it sweeps (and there is no option to turn the mop off) the carpet would get wet.
Does it run out of charge fast?
You need to charge it for about 4 hours but it will run for 60 minutes. It hasn't run out of charge for me at all while I've ben using it.
What can it mop up?
It can mop up spills and small bits of food. It's not for cleaning up a pile of dropped food (but once you pick it up you can use it to clean the splatter on the floor). Don't clean up mess like animal poo (or human!) or vomit. It's going to make the rollers awful. Also don't clean up broken glass or pottery etc as it will cut up your roller.
How many cleaning modes does it have?
It has two modes - the first mode is for general cleaning and the second if for more hardcore cleaning. Be aware that option 2 will use a lot more water and you may need to refill your water tank.
Do I have to clean my HIZERO?
Yes! At the end of every use you need to empty the sweeping tray, wash the filter and empty the dirty water tank and rinse it. You'll also need to wash the roller weekly.
HIZERO Review - How It Works
Once you turn it on, the HIZERO drives itself with an engine. It's brushes sweep up anything on the floor, then mops. It's important to know that it's not a vacuum. It doesn't suck anything up, it sweeps it.
While it drives itself forward, you can push it faster (because it's a bit slow for me) but just keep it at a regular walker pace. As it moves forward it sweeps and mops, and then as you pull it back, it mops again.
As you go, it gathers all the detritus from the floor and sweeps it into the tray inside the head of the HIZERO.
The clean water moves from the clean water tank, onto the roller and then gets sucked up into the dirty water tank. The HIZERO will usually light up blue, but it turns red if you've run out of water.
I'm really enjoying mine - I'm using it most days and it's going a great job on my floors. We get a lot of grass from the garden walked through the house and the cat sheds constantly, so the floors need cleaning every day. I alternate using the HIZERO and my stick vacuum, because the HIZERO does take a bit longer, due to the sweeping rather than vacuuming. But I love that it mops as well, especially in the kitchen.
I've even used it to clean up a fair amount of water and it worked much better than I expected. I turned off our mini fridge without thinking about the freezer defrosting and once it melted it went everywhere! The HIZERO was so much easier than trying to mop it up and wring out the mop.
If you are thinking of purchasing a HIZERO they have given me a code for $100 off and free delivery on the HIZERO F803. Just use the code SMLSAVE100 at checkout.
