DIY with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

When we were asked by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to create something beautiful with one of her paint colours, I couldn't say no! I chose the colour 'Provence', because I'm a sucker for anything in the aqua/teal family. Now I just needed the perfect project...

I contemplated doing the laundry wall (still on my list of things to do!) a table and chairs and the TV cabinet, but eventually I settled on this gorgeous Balinese style mirror. It was a not so pretty shade of orange and it really didn't match my house- but it had a whole lot of potential!

Annie Sloan chalk paint is just a joy to use- it is rich in colour and texture and goes on so easily. There's no need to use an undercoat, two coats of Annie Sloan chalk paint and you are ready to go. If you want a deeper finish you can use a wax on top of the paint as well- this also makes it waterproof.

The paint dries super fast so you only need about an hour between coats. This means you can get you project done easily in a day (depending on the size). I love the finish- it's rustic, a little distressed and has so much texture.

So here it is... the finished product!

It looks soooo much better! It's now a feature piece in my lounge and everyone that comes over comments on how much they love it and where I got it. They don't know I have a secret weapon...!
