If you live in Melbourne or the Mornington Peninsular of Victoria then we have a gorgeous event for you this weekend. If you want something fun to do with the family head to Art Red Hill at Red Hill Consolidated School. With opening night on Friday, and the exhibition running over Saturday and Sunday, Art Red Hill gives visitors the opportunity to see (and buy!) hundreds of artworks across many mediums.
Visitors will experience over 40 Aboriginal artworks, created from paint, bark, leaves, carving and ceramics- all created by award winning Aboriginal artists from Central Australia, Utopia, the AYP Lands, Western Australia, East Arnhem Land and the Baluk Artists of the Mornington Peninsula.
Running for 35 years, Art Red Hill has also introduced a mentoring program for new artists, who will have their artworks on display. One of these new artists is 13 year old Josh Brnjac, who will be showcasing his photography work.
Food will be available at the 'Country Cafe' and kids programs, including an origami workshop, will be running over the weekend.
Tickets for opening night are $25 online or $30 at the door- local food and wine will be served and Hayden Calnin will be providing the entertainment at the over 18s event.
Art Red Hill is open 10am-5pm Saturday 2nd May and Sunday 3rd May. Tickets are $5, with kids under 16 free. To find out more or to purchase tickets visit www.artredhill.redhillcs.vic.edu.au
