So, it’s no secret that I have a thing for vacuum cleaners! Who knows why – I hate cleaning. But there is something so satisfying about a good vacuum. It creates instant clean! So, I’m excited to be reviewing the new Hoover React – it has headlights guys! It’s Hoover’s newest StickVac and it’s so damn fancy. Let’s take a look at what it can do for us…

About the Hoover React - a Hoover Cordless Vacuum

Your Hoover React comes with a floor head, multiple cleaning accessories, and a charging dock. At the moment you will also get a free extra rechargeable battery valued at $149.95 when you purchase a Hoover Stick Vac from Godfreys.

The floor head comes with FloorSense Technology so it can detect your floor type and make sure it is cleaning to the best of its ability. Your Hoover also has a dashboard that shows you battery life and cleaning mode, so you don’t accidentally run out of battery half way through a clean.

Oh, and don’t forget my favourite feature – the headlights! Who knew a vacuum needed headlights? Not me but I’m sold. It makes it so much easier to clean under the couch and the beds.

So how does the Hoover React Perform?

So, I’m going to start by saying that I currently own a rival brand’s very light stick vacuum. It’s an older model (maybe the first model) and TBH, while it looks pretty it isn’t very heavy duty. It’s ok for a bit of a light clean in between the big vacuum each week but it doesn’t even pick up dropped food from under the table which is what I want a stick vacuum for the most. So that was my first test.

As you can see by my little video here (recorded by my half asleep, 19-year-old son who I dragged out of bed to hold my phone), the Hoover React cleans up the food under the table really well. I had no problem picking everything up off the floor, even a larger bit of plastic, which my other one would never pick up.

Next test was the carpet – we are a ‘shoes on in the house’ family as we are always in and out and the carpet gets pretty dirty. I also have a giant, very fluffy cat, and a 17-year-old daughter – both who seem to shed hair at an alarming rate.  So, I ran the Hoover React over the carpet and the suction was amazing! I only did the hallway and you can see in the below pic how much fluff and hair were picked up. And this was only two days after the cleaners came and vacuumed with the big, barrel vacuum.

Performance wise I’m totally sold. However, just a heads up that this Hoover cordless vacuum is heavier and bulkier than a lot of stick vacuums on the market. It’s not super lightweight but I think that its bulk (and large vacuum head) means that it gives a better clean than the very small ones.
