Tully turned two- and because she is OBSESSED with animals a farm party was the only option really! So after lots of research (and pinning!) I decided that what I was looking for was something between a farm and a farmer’s market. I liked the farmers market idea because it gave me the chance to provide some yummy food that wasn’t just full of sugar. No one wants that many two year olds going crazy on sugar after all!
My gorgeous friend Linda from Ever So Sweet designed the table, based on the cake I wanted and the farmers market idea that I had. We went for the traditional hessian and gingham to create the farm feel- along with hessian sacks, grass and fencing.
We served strawberries (and strawberry cake pops!), apples, popcorn, home made salted oatmeal cookies, cupcakes, watermelon shaped cake pops and the most spectacular cake by the very talented Katherine from Cakes by Koo! To drink we served water and chocolate milk. I had the printables made by You Make Do, and my friend Isabel from Barbe a Papa Party Supplies printed them and transferred them onto mini hessian bags for the lolly bags.
To keep the kids entertained the Bowral Farmyard Friends animal nursery came along with ducklings, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, lambs, goats and even a little piglet! We also set up a cookie colouring station with some fantastic cookies from Catering for Kids that you can colour with food safe pens.
It was such a hit- the farm animals were perfect for that age group because they aren't really ready for games and they don't play together well yet.
I can't wait to plan next year's!
