We chat to UberKate- plus you can WIN!

As I'm sure you know, we LOVE UberKate here at Stuff Mums Like. Shes the original and the best when it comes to handmade, personalised jewellery. Her designs are hugely popular with mums everywhere, and she can even boast some celebrity fans; with Monique Wright, Georgie Gardner, Sarah Murdoch, Jessica Rich, Joanna Townsend, Rebecca Harris, Leila McKinnon, Natalie Barr and Melissa Doyle loving her range. To celebrate her 12th anniversary we sat down with her for a quick chat.

What inspired you to start creating personalised handmade jewellery?

I was working as a TV producer at Channel 9 and creating silver jewellery during my weekends and spare time.. I created the "Ubercircles" and embossed my name into one, my partners name into the other with a set of vintage stamps i had bought at a flea market when I was 15! I wore the circles to work and my TV presenter friends loved them, the stylists did too and soon I was getting orders from all over the station and my Ubercircles were being worn on air.. There was nothing like it on the market.. it was a purely authentic design that I made for myself to wear to keep my loved ones close.. that was nearly 14 years ago!

What line of yours is your favourite?

I fall in and out of love with my designs all the time! its one of the reasons that I keep creating new designs.. At the moment I am in love with a top secret project I have been working on all year.. A little hint… there are diamonds!

What inspires your new creations?

I am always inspired by nature.. it might be a curve in a vine that creates a lightbulb moment.. (the inspiration for the Living Range came from vine!) .. I'm also inspired by travel and other artisans… i have been working on a collab with big chunky hand cut stones with some artisans in Bali.. I like combining my creativity with the skill set of other creatives.. that's when the magic happens!

What do you love about your job?

I love that no two days are the same.. I love the thank yous and the messages that we receive about how we have touched peoples lives with our pieces.. I love being the boss lady! (i could go on and on…I live eat and breathe Uberkate)
