In our house, the movie SING was highly anticipated. Both my daughters (yes even the 16-year-old) watched the trailer numerous times over about six months before it's release. So, as you can imagine, they are pretty excited about it being released on DVD next week. When we received our SING pack from Universal it included at little Buster toy. Tully took it to kindy for news and apparently the reaction was like Justin Bieber just walked in the room.
So What is SING about?
If you haven't seen it yet, SING is a wonderful, funny, heartwarming film with great music and a fantastic cast. It stars Academy Award® winner Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, an eternally optimistic koala who puts on the world’s greatest singing competition to save his crumbling theater; Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon as Rosita, an overworked and unappreciated mother of 25 piglets desperate to unleash her inner diva; Scarlett Johansson as Ash, a punk rock porcupine with a beautiful voice behind her prickly exterior; Taron Egerton as Johnny, a young gangster gorilla looking to break free of his family’s felonies; as well as Seth MacFarlane, John C. Reilly, and Grammy Award-nominated Tori Kelly. SING is the musical comedy event of the year!
There are many discussions about whose team we are all on. The 16-year-old is team Johnny the Gorilla because she loves Taron Egerton. I'm firmly team Rosita, because #relatable- right? And Tully loves Rosita and Gunter because they sing 'Shake it Off'- she will now only listen to their version!
From the creators of Despicable Me, Illumination presents SING. A musical comedy about finding the shining star that lives inside all of us. Featuring 3 mini movies and more music!
The Golden Globe nominee for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, SING features more than 65 hit songs including ‘Faith,’ a brand-new song by the legendary Stevie Wonder (featuring Ariana Grande), marking his first song for a major film release in 25 years.
SING Special Edition Blu-ray & DVD will be in stores March 29.
